Grants for author visits to your school

You are a school employee. You would like to bring a particular children’s book author to your school for an author visit but that costs money, and your PTSA doesn’t have the funding available. What to do?

There are many sources for grants that are available for just this sort of thing, if you can find them. One such grant that has come to mind is through Target’s Early Childhood Reading Grants that are designed to help kids across America get a head start on reading.

These grants can be used for a variety of reading-related programs, including author visits.

Grants must be applied for by April 30 of the current year.

This is a wonderful opportunity thanks to Target—apply for your grant now!

We are a small PreK through 12th grade school in Meadville, Missouri. We are very limited on the amount of money that can be used for field trips. Therefore, we would like to have an author visit our school. Please send us a grant application for the Early Childhood Reading grant.

    Thank you,
    Joy Leppin, Librarian

Hi Joy, the link for the grant application is included in my blog article. Unfortunately, given that the article is over a year old, it appears that the application is no longer available. There may be other grants available that you can apply for although I have not looked. I’m sure they exist. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
